Finca Los Llanos and Casa Los Olivos Alora
A place to explore and to love
Alan and I first came to Andalucia in 2001, We studied Spanish at CLIC in Sevilla for 2 months and then based ourselves on the Costa de la Luz for four months whilst we explored in search of a new home and new life.
We first looked around the lovely white hill town of Álora in May 2002 – having chatted with a couple in a cafe in Casarabonela. Oh they said, you must go and have a look at Álora – its near the lovely Ardales Lakes and its beautiful.
So we did. Domin, the owner of the first b and b we stayed at said “I have a friend who is selling an old property, and its in need of total renovation” Well, we looked at the property details and weren’t sure. From then on, everyone was telling us about this property, and we kept being ‘not too sure’. Eventually, one day we decided we really did have to check it out. The rest is history. We came, we saw, and it conquered!
.
Now, in 2018, we have (almost) finished work on the old house. We have built a fabulously comfortable casita we called Casa Los Olivos – there are over 200 old olive trees on this land, and we have planted another 200.
We are so fortunate to be here. We have great neighbours and friends. So many new friends made as Casa Los Olivos has brought people from all over the world as guests here. Many of whom have returned more than once, and some have been coming here for years.
We are passionate about this area, and not only the Caminito del Rey, but the wonderful cities of Málaga, Antequera, Ronda, Granada , Cordoba and Sevilla. All these are within easy reach, as too are beaches, mountains, forests lakes, and the amazing national parks of El Torcal and Ardales. On this web site you will find information on all these wonderful places and you won’t be able to resist – you will have to come and see for yourselves.

Happy to meet you - I am Alan and have lived here at Finca Los Llanos since 2002. Most of the time we have been renovating Finca Los Llanos and building Casa Los Olivos. I have worked in construction management all my life, and now love the chance to get out in the hills, walking and exploring. Its the best of both worlds here, with fabulous winter temperatures and countryside, and the great urban joy that is Málaga.

We have renovated, built and loved being here at Finca Los Llanos just outside the friendly little town of Álora. The re-opening of the Caminito del Rey has been the icing on the cake for this beautiful area. Its great to see this previously hardly known inland area of Andalucia being enjoyed by explorers, walkers and cyclists, as well as sun lovers. The transport network is now fantastic, with the great EU funded road network, the airport nearby and our great local train service into Málaga. And we really really love Málaga. The museums, the theatre and music, the amazing restaurants, and the fabulous street life in this beautifully restored city just surprise and delight everyone now.
